What works, why and how to improve maternal and newborn health in Uttar Pradesh, India, Ethiopia and Nigeria? A question a team of about 20 researchers at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine set out to answer in 2010 after having been approached by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to support measurement, learning and evaluation of their maternal and child health strategy.

More than seven years later, the team is building on the wealth of data, results, partnerships and learning created in the current second phase of IDEAS.
